Extensible CAD Technologies (XCT) is a small,
yet incredibly forward-thinking software development
company. Based in Raleigh, NC, this organization
could affectionately be labeled as "the little
guy on the block." Since the Research Triangle
area of North Carolina is such a hot-bed for new
software development, it was important to create
a brand that would clearly show XCT as more than
just another small-time development firm.
With the release of their latest software development,
"Inspection Xpert," XCT has propelled
themselves into the forefront of the CAD and Solidworks
world. Inspection Xpert is a development that
allows users to create finished, and inspected
construction documents direct from the workspace
on the screen in a fraction of the time than was
previously possible. This program not only saves
time and cuts down on user mistakes made by engineers,
it also keeps the almighty dollar in the pockets
of customers through the cut-down of un-needed
document inspection time.
It was important to show this small organization
as not just a small guy to be looked over, but
instead, a force to be reckoned with on the software
development front. Sublmnl Design accomplished
this by implementing a sleek and modern identity
system utilizing a simple "plug-in"
icon and bold, bright orange. The mixture of orange
and gray was chosen for this organization to show
both it's strong ability to develop cutting-edge
software (represented by the gray and bold "X"),
yet still show them as a light-hearted and creative
group (represented by the orange).
When Sublmnl Design was approached to develop
a brand and merchandising scheme for Inspection
Xpert, it was clear that this product needed to
carry the main identifying mark of the master
XCT brand, the "plug-in." Given the
strong and recognizable mark, XCT wanted to not
only put their face on the map with their new
product, but also wanted it obvious to everyone
that this was a product created by XCT. With the
main elements in place, it was time to personalize
the mark to the Xpert software. This was accomplished
by including the inspection tool icon from CAD
and turning it onto its side to form an "X."
The use of the cool blue color scheme was used
to allude to this program's ability to take the
stress out of the document inspection process.
Inspection Xpert was recently
named as the newest member of the prestigious
SolidWorks Solution Partner Program. This achievement
solidifies this product's place on the engineering
front, and Sublmnl Design is very happy to have
been able to help push this company and product
out to the world with a fresh new face.
