From the foothills town of Lenoir, NC to the
“big” city of Charlotte, NC, life
has been an interesting, fun, and sometimes a
learning experience for this small-town kid. From
the time as a small child doodling on the
margins of every spelling test my teachers gave
me, to working as an artist to pay my bills as
an adult; art has been a major part of my life
and a source of passion.
After graduating high school I promptly parted
ways with my small-town home and moved to Charlotte
to attend architecture school at the University
of North Carolina at Charlotte. During my time
in architecture school I realized two things:
1. I have a newfound respect for architecture
as both an art and a science, and 2. I’m
not very good at math. After switching my major
from architecture to art, I found the creative
outlet I was looking for in the field of graphic
design and illustration.
Though graduation from art school came in May
of 2005, I began working as a professional independent
graphic artist in 2003 under the name, “Justin
Moore Designs.” I decided to change the
name of my independent design practice to “Sublmnl
Design” in January, 2006 to reflect the
public’s growing interest in my work, and
to represent my growth as an artist. While working
under the name Sublmnl Design I have had the opportunity
to work for clients ranging from small businesses
to large corporations and up-and-coming local
bands to national recording artists. This journey
in life is just beginning and this collection
of work will keep growing as the years roll by.
Enjoy.
